ClearBlue Markets is excited to announce that Gerald Ouellette has joined the team as Director, Offset Advisory.
Gerald brings extensive management, technical, policy and regulatory experience to the team. He has led teams and projects globally with public, private, and non-profit organizations.
Prior to joining ClearBlue, Gerald was the Manager of Energy Innovation with Verra, the leading standard setter in the voluntary carbon market (VCM). He led the organization’s emission reductions and carbon dioxide removals (CDR) initiatives in the energy sector. This involved the development of globally applicable GHG accounting methodologies under the Verified Carbon Standard Program (VCS) for carbon capture utilization and storage, CDR, hydrogen, oil & gas well abandonment, coal power plant retirement and the energy transition via increased renewable energy development.
Before working in the VCM, Gerald spent nearly a decade in sustainable resource development policy and regulatory compliance with the Government of Alberta as the Manager of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Policy and as a Geologist. Gerald managed staff developing regulations for CCS in Alberta including the review and selection of the first CCUS hubs and establishing environmental monitoring, measurement, and verification (MMV) requirements. He led a project team of 20 staff for Alberta’s $1 billion Site Rehabilitation Program (SRP) program, funding the remediation and reclamation of thousands of oil & gas wells.
Gerald is a Professional Geoscientist with a Masters in Earth and Energy Resource Leadership from Queen’s University. He volunteers with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle with his family.
